About Us

Born in the Sorrento peninsula in 1970, our Chef Gianni, embarked on the journey in the art of cooking at the age of 16.
He has spent all these years working across Europe, enriching his professional background which includes, among many things, handmade pasta, pastry, and meat and fish processing.

He’s been working behind the scenes here in Cardiff for about 6 years, and after all this time it’s time to move to the front lines. It has always been Gianni’s dream to be able to have a place where he can put all his culinary knowledge into practice and make sure to share it through the dishes that will be served here at “La Sorrentina”.

During these years in the Capital City of Wales he acquired lifelong friends, one of whom is Roberto Nardone, who saw Gianni’s passion and believed in his dream. With the support of their families, they brought a little bit of Sorrento here in Cardiff.

Our Food

Here at La Sorrentina we want our customers to feel like they are having their meal as if they were in Italy, that’s why the majority of our ingredients are freshly imported straight from there.

For our Pizza the Chef prepares the dough by mixes the ingredients together following his recipe, once the dough is assembled, it is left to rise through assisted leavening.

The dough is left to ferment for a minimum of 24 hours, after which the Chef follows the whole process to prepare the Pizza, starting from rolling out the dough to filling it with the ingredients chosen by our customers, and then cooking everything in the oven.
